Born out of the vision of Christ Church Pitsmoor in Sheffield, Second Thought aims to encourage thoughtful reflection on the Christian faith. We are now a small, but growing group of people from across Sheffield churches, who facilitate two study days a year with well known Christian thinkers.
Our first study day with Rt Revd Tom Wright (Bishop of Durham) was entitled “Reading the gospels in the city”. More recently John and Olive Drane have led a day on “Spirituality in a changing culture”. We have recordings of these days - contact us if you would like copies.
In the Autumn of 2006 we hope to have a day with Alan and Elaine Storkey, and in the Spring of 2007 we have invited Steve Tomkins. Dates and themes will be posted here shortly.
We are on the look out for people who could help with organising future events. Please get in touch if you could help with publicity or practical arrangements.
We are concerned that all Christians need to be provoked to think Biblically about the practical outworking of their faith. We hope that Second Thought will become a real resource for Christians in Sheffield and the north of England.
